MAS Notice on Sale of Investment Products

MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) Notice on Sale of Investment Products/Plans

From 1 January 2012, investment products are classified into 3 categories:

  (1) Excluded Investment Products ("EIPs")

    (a) Stock or shares issued by a corporation listed or quoted on Singapore Exchange
    (b) Units in Real Estate Investment Trusts
    (c) Company Warrants
    (d) Preference Shares
    (e) American Depository Receipt
    (f) Subscription rights pursuant to rights issues
    (g) Unit in business trust
    (h) Debenture other than asset-backed securities or structured notes
    (i) Contract or arrangement on foreign exchange trading

  (2) Listed Specified Investment Products ("Listed SIPs")

    (a) Stock or shares listed or quoted on a foreign exchange
    (b) Exchange Traded Funds / Notes
    (c) Extended Settlement Contracts
    (d) Structured Warrants and Options
    (e) Stapled Securities
    (f) Certificates
    (g) Futures Contracts
    (h) Other listed investment products that are not classified as Excluded Investment Products

  (3) Unlisted Specified Investment Products ("Unlisted SIPs")

    (a) Contracts for Difference ("CFD")
    (b) Collective Investment Scheme (commonly known as unit trusts)
    (c) Investment Link Product ("ILP")
    (d) Structured Deposits / Notes
    (e) Other unlisted investment products that are not classified as Excluded Investment Products
